Understanding Screening and Diagnosis Technology for Sleep-Related Breathing Disorders

Dentists are playing an increasing role in screening patients for sleep-related breathing disorders and referring them for further testing to obtain diagnosis. Understanding the different technologies that are available to use in the dentist’s office to screen, as well as those that are used by medical sleep doctors to diagnose sleep-related breathing disorders is important to be able to communicate with patients as dentists implement screening programs.

Airway Therapy for the Primary Care Dental Team

An overview of sleep disordered breathing and what the dental team can do about it. We start with the basics: sleep, dental appliances, how to work with sleep physicians, medical insurance interaction AND the "ABC’s" of marketing. Then we go a bit beyond the basics: complications, titration and follow-up testing, team development, complex sleep disorders and advanced marketing.

The Troublesome Connection Between TMD and Airway

When patients present to dental offices with TMD and head pain, most dentists don’t ask about other somatic pain syndromes or take a detailed history that might reveal airway problems. This lecture establishes why TMD & airway are often linked, provides tools to help manage chronic conditions and positions dentists as experts in helping patients achieve greater overall health.
