Biography
Dan Hines MS, CDT, U.S. Air Force (MSgt ret.) served 20 years in U.S. Air Force as a dental laboratory technician. He has served the Armed Forces Medical Examiner System for the past 29 years as a member of the military, contractor, and civil service employee. He has supported dozens of mass fatalities and helped to process over 10,000 sets of remains. He has supported the bombing of the Embassies in Kenya, the bombing of the USS Cole, the Fort Hood massacre, the 9/11 attack on the Pentagon, The Space shuttle disaster, earthquake in Haiti, attack on Benghazi and Operation’s Iraqi and Enduring Freedom, Inherent Resolve, Freedom’s Sentinel and New Dawn.
He also serves as a consultant in forensic dentistry and has trained over 50 medical examiner offices throughout the country. He continues to train all branches of the United State Military. He has briefed congressional members and representatives on advances in forensic technologies for victim identification during mass disasters. He served as the laboratory coordinator for the Armed Forces Institute of Pathology and the U.S Public Health Forensic Dentistry Course and has serves as a speaker on the topics of Forensic Dentistry and Forensic Dentistry Database Management for Mass Disasters. Dan is a member of the American Society of Forensic Odontology and is the recipient of the 2021 Haskell M. Pitluck Award presented by the American Board of Forensic Odontology given to a non-odontologist that has served the ABFO community in an exemplary fashion
