Course Description

Oral Pathology for the Dental Hygienist
This course is designed to inform the participant about various oral pathologic lesions of the oral cavity. The oral health care professional should be able to identify common lesions and understand how to manage patients with such conditions.

Course Objectives

At the completion of this course the participants should be able to:

  1. Identify common lesions of the oral cavity during routine examination
  2. Determine how to properly document oral pathologic lesions encountered
  3. Determine how to properly manage patients presenting with various oral pathologic lesions
  4. Discuss the treatment plan and prognosis of various oral pathologic lesions with patients

The educational teaching methodology used in this course is a lecture presented via live webinar in concert with an accompanying PowerPoint presentation. Both the live lecture and the PowerPoint presentation incorporate a variety of audio and visual cues to enhance audience members’ understanding and retention of key concepts. In addition, audience participation will be encouraged and facilitated by group discussions as well as question and answer periods provided for at the conclusion of each section of the live webinar."
