What is my Renewal Cycle?

DENTISTS (DDS, DMD) - Licensed Dentists are required to renew their license no later than midnight, Eastern Time, on February 28, 2024
DENTAL HYGIENISTS (RDH) - Licensed Dentists are required to renew their license no later than midnight, Eastern Time, on February 28, 2024.
ASSISTANTS (RDA, CDA, EFDA) - The dental radiographer certification does not expire and therefore does not need to be renewed

How Many Credits Do I Need?

DENTISTS (DDS, DMD) - Active Dentists must complete 30 hours of approved Continuing Education (CE) (28) General Hours (2) Medical Error
DENTAL HYGIENISTS (RDH) - Active Dental Hygienists must complete 24 hours of approved Continuing Education (CE)
ASSISTANTS (RDA, CDA, EFDA) - There are no continuing education (CE) requirements for dental assistants in Florida.

What, if Any, Are The Mandatory Subjects?

DENTISTS (DDS, DMD) - "During the licensure biennial renewal period that begins on March 1, 2020 and every licensure biennial renewal period thereafter, all dentists who hold an active sedation permit of any level shall take the following continuing education instead of the continuing education required in subsection (1): A four (4) hour board approved continuing education course in Medical Emergencies that shall include airway management as a component of the course. 2 hours Medical Error 2 Hours Domestic Violence (due every third biennium) 2 hours HIV/AIDS (due for first renewal only) CPR 2 hours - Safe and Effective Prescribing or controlled substances -Effective July 1, 2019, required for all dentists at every renewal."
DENTAL HYGIENISTS (RDH) - 2 hours Medical Error 2 Hours Domestic Violence (due every third biennium) CPR
ASSISTANTS (RDA, CDA, EFDA) - Dental assistants who monitor nitrous-oxide inhalation analgesia must be certified in an American Heart Association or American Red Cross or equivalent agency sponsored cardio­pulmonary resuscitation course at the basic life support level to include one person CPR, two person CPR, infant resuscitation and obstructed airway with a periodic update not to exceed two years.
