What is my Renewal Cycle?

DENTISTS (DDS, DMD) - To renew a dental license, each licensee shall submit a properly completed renewal application and the appropriate biennial license fee to the board prior to September 30 of every even-numbered calendar year
DENTAL HYGIENISTS (RDH) - To renew a dental hygiene license, each licensee shall submit a properly com- pleted renewal application and the appropriate biennial license fee to the board prior to March 31 of each odd-numbered calendar year.
ASSISTANTS (RDA, CDA, EFDA) - N/A

How Much Continuing Education Do I Need?

DENTISTS (DDS, DMD) - Dentists are required to complete 30 hours of CE
DENTAL HYGIENISTS (RDH) - As of July 1, 2021, all active status dental hygienists will be required to report thirty (30) hours of continuing education during the biennial renewal period. This is an increase of six (6) total hours every two years. Dental hygienists holding an extended access endorsement will no longer be required to report the four (4) additional continuing education credits to maintain the endorsement.
ASSISTANTS (RDA, CDA, EFDA) - N/A

What, if Any, Are The Mandatory Subjects?

DENTISTS (DDS, DMD) - One (1) hour must be related to opioid prescribing
DENTAL HYGIENISTS (RDH) - RDH with Extended Access License: Four of the credits must be in the specific practice areas of medical emergencies, local anesthesia, oral pathology, care and treatment of geriatric, medically compromised or disabled patients and treatment of children.
ASSISTANTS (RDA, CDA, EFDA) - A dental assistant may be considered Board qualified in expanded functions, authorizing the assistant to perform any or all of the expanded functions described in Subsection 035.01.f. upon satisfactory completion of the following requirements: (7-1-93) a. Completion of Board-approved training in each of the expanded functions. The required training shall include adequate training in the fundamentals of dental assisting, which may be evidenced by: (3-18-99) i. Current certification by the Dental Assisting National Board; or (7-1-93) ii. Successful completion of a Board-approved course in the fundamentals of dental assisting; or (3-18-99) iii. Successfully challenging the fundamentals course.
