What is my Renewal Cycle?

DENTISTS (DDS, DMD) - Beginning in January 2022, an active or inactive dental license shall be renewed in the licensee's birth month each year
DENTAL HYGIENISTS (RDH) - Beginning in January 2022, an active or inactive dental hygiene license shall be renewed in the licensee's birth month each year
ASSISTANTS (RDA, CDA, EFDA) - N/A

How Much Continuing Education Do I Need?

DENTISTS (DDS, DMD) - A dentist shall complete a minimum of 15 hours of continuing education, which meets the requirements for content, sponsorship, and documentation set out in this section, for each annual renewal of licensure except for the first renewal following initial licensure and for any renewal of a restricted volunteer license. Continuing education hours in excess of the number required for renewal may be transferred or credited to the next renewal year for a total of not more than 15 hours.
DENTAL HYGIENISTS (RDH) - In order to renew an active license, a dental hygienist shall complete a minimum of 15 hours of approved continuing education. Continuing education hours in excess of the number required for renewal may be transferred or credited to the next renewal year for a total of not more than 15 hours.
ASSISTANTS (RDA, CDA, EFDA) - N/A

What, if Any, Are The Mandatory Subjects?

DENTISTS (DDS, DMD) - "A dentist shall maintain current training certification in basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation with hands-on airway training for health care providers or basic life support A dentist who administers or monitors patients under general anesthesia, deep sedation, or moderate sedation shall complete four (4) hours every two years of approved continuing education directly related to administration and monitoring of such anesthesia or sedation Any dentist who prescribes Schedules II, III, and IV controlled substances shall obtain two hours of continuing education on pain management every two years"
DENTAL HYGIENISTS (RDH) - A dental hygienist shall be required to maintain evidence of successful completion of a current hands-on course in basic cardiopulmonary resuscitation for health care providers A dental hygienist who monitors patients under general anesthesia, deep sedation, or conscious/moderate sedation shall complete four (4) hours every two years of approved continuing education directly related to monitoring of such anesthesia or sedation as part of the hours required for licensure renewal

Is There a Limit to The Number of Online Classes

Continuing education credit may be earned for verifiable attendance at or participation in any course, to include audio and video presentations.
