Course Description
Periodontics
This case-based course is designed for the clinical dental hygienist and focuses on knowledge and skills essential for assessing the effectiveness of non-surgical periodontal therapy. A systematic approach to treatment planning, grounded in the findings of the re-evaluation process will be discussed, enabling clinicians to make informed decisions on additional therapy or referrals and to effectively monitor patients for ongoing periodontal maintenance.

Both the live webinar and the PowerPoint presentation incorporate a variety of audio and visual cues to enhance audience members’ understanding and retention of key concepts. In addition, question and answer periods are provided for at the conclusion of each section of the live webinar.”
Course Objectives
At the completion of this course the participants should be able to:
- Review the re-evaluation steps in non-surgical periodontal therapy and its role in achieving long- term periodontal health.
- Discuss the critical clinical and radiographic parameters used to assess the effectiveness of therapy.
- Discuss the principles of successful non-surgical periodontal therapy outcomes.
- Develop a systematic approach to treatment planning based on the re-evaluation findings, including when to consider additional therapy or referrals and how to monitor patients for ongoing periodontal maintenance.
