Signs and Symptoms of Periodontitis for Non-Surgical Periodontal Therapy (NSPT)
This course is designed for the clinical dental hygienist and will offer critically appraised, evidence-based information to identify signs and symptoms of periodontal disease. The course will provide chronological information on the dental hygiene assessment phase of care to develop steps in identifying, treating, and stabilizing periodontitis utilizing non-surgical periodontal therapy.

Course Objectives

At the completion of this course the participants should be able to:

1. Explain the different levels of evidence.
2. Explain the role of biofilm in periodontal destruction.
3. Discuss the components of a comprehensive periodontal assessment.
4. Identify the signs of periodontal disease.
5. Identify the most effective ways to control oral biofilm.

The educational teaching methodology used in this course is a lecture presented via live webinar in concert with an accompanying PowerPoint presentation. Both the live lecture and the PowerPoint presentation incorporate a variety of audio and visual cues to enhance audience members’ understanding and retention of key concepts. In addition, audience participation will be encouraged and facilitated by group discussions as well as question and answer periods provided for at the conclusion of each section of the live webinar."
